studio machteld oosterbaan is a boutique design studio with a love for hotel, restaurant, retail and
other hospitality and commercial design projects.
we devote ourselves to creating a strong design concept for our clients and translating that vision into
ambiances that each have their own individual character.
in the interiors that we create there is always a big role for (contemporary) art as we find it can really set an interior apart.
always influenced by our client´s mission, vision and brand strategy, we like to think of our design d.n.a. as a
combination of curated & comfortable.
studio machteld oosterbaan is formed by machteld oosterbaan as creative director and principal interior designer and
samuel colaj, esteban paredes and aziel lemus as our interior architects.
we work throughout central america and the united states.
machteld oosterbaan grew up in the netherlands, but has called guatemala her home for over a decade now. with an mba in marketing & strategy and over a decade of experience in designing and executing residential, hospitality and
commercial interior design projects, she loves to create a unique concept and look & feel for each of her studio's clients.
samuel colaj started working with us at the studio in 2019. he is hands on and gets just as excited as the rest of us about
designing something special for our clients. he is currently in his last year of studying architecture at
mariono galvez university here in antigua guatemala.
esteban paredes first project with studio machteld oosterbaan is with our client urbop and it is a perfect fit.
esteban has an amazing feeling for the right aesthetics for each client. he is also a super well organized and
enthusiastic project manager.
aziel lemus grew up in guatemala and, talented as she is, after graduating cum laude from francisco marroquin university
in guatemala, furthered her studies at domus academy in italy and interned with patricia urquiola in milan.
she has a great eye for how good layout and flow of spaces make a project work.
