studio machteld oosterbaan is a boutique design studio with a love for designing interiors for hotel, restaurant, retail and other commercial projects. we also get super excited about curating art for our clients and doing the art direction for inspired endeavors with other creatives or clients.

we devote ourselves to creating a strong design concept for our clients and translating that vision into

ambiances that each have their own individual character.

in the interiors that we create there is always a big role for (contemporary) art as we find it can really set an interior apart.

influenced by our client´s mission, vision and brand strategy, we like to think of our design d.n.a. as a combination of curated & comfortable.

studio machteld  oosterbaan is formed by machteld oosterbaan as creative director and principal interior designer and

samuel colaj, esteban paredes, daniela liscutin and aziel lemus as our interior architects.

we work throughout central america and the united states.

machteld oosterbaan grew up in the netherlands, but has called guatemala her home for almost 2 decades now.

with an mba in marketing & strategy and over 15 years of experience in designing and executing residential, hospitality and commercial interior design projects in latin america and the united states, she loves to create a unique concept and look & feel for each of her studio's clients.

samuel colaj started working with us at the studio in 2019. he is hands on and gets just as excited as the rest of us about designing something special for our clients. he is currently in his last year of studying architecture at mariono galvez university here in antigua guatemala.

esteban paredes first project with studio machteld oosterbaan has been with our client ecofiltro and it is a perfect fit. esteban has an amazing feeling for the right aesthetics for each client and is a super well organized and enthusiastic project manager.

daniela liscutin started working with me on the creation of an interior concept for a well-known developer here in guatemala city and we clicked right away. daniela has a great eye for details and is an ambitious worker.

aziel lemus grew up in guatemala and, talented as she is, after graduating cum laude from francisco marroquin university in guatemala, furthered her studies at domus academy in italy and interned with patricia urquiola in milan. she has a great eye for how good layout and flow of spaces make a project work.
